Through its advisory groups and outreach to travel agencies, ARC has heard the concerns around the effects of reducing the timeframe that travel agencies have to void a ticket to the same day as it was issued.
After a thorough examination of the issues and opportunities, it was concluded that a major improvement to data availability could be made without requiring so-called 'same-day voiding.' The decoupling of 'same-day voiding' program code already developed will take some effort, but it is the right step to preserve the high data quality that IAR enables while continuing to speed data to our customers. A measure, to be implemented this summer, will improve the timeframe for data availability to carriers by 36% or a full day improvement for most daily sales cycles. This initiative is in keeping with ARC's continuing mission to make ARC's data more accurate and available in an ever more timely fashion and is yet another in a long line of innovations that leverage the cooperative effort of travel agencies and ARC's Interactive Agent Reporting (IAR) tool bringing the industry the highest quality transaction data available today.
ARC will continue to make those improvements in the future and look forward to working responsibly with all our stakeholders - airlines, travel agencies and system providers.
US Airways has announced they will begin using Memo Manager March 9, 2009. When implemented, all newly issued memos will be distributed electronically through Memo Manager.
