FAQ - Origin and Destination Sales Summary for Travel Professionals
Q: What is Origin and Destination?
A: Origin & Destination (O&D) is also known as a city pair. For example, if a passenger travels from JFK-ORD-LAX, then JFK-LAX is considered the O&D city pair.

Q: How does ARC calculate a city pair?
A: City pairs are derived from the itinerary data using the stopover code field and exclude all intermediate cities where a stopover is not permitted. For Example, if a passenger travels from SDF through ATL to TPA and returns TPA through ATL to SDF, the city pairs for this itinerary are SDF to TPA and TPA to SDF. ATL is a connection city and therefore is not shown in the O&D data.

Q: What is the difference between the O&D report and my Agent Sales Summary?
A: Agent Sales Summary reports contain settled transactions by plating carrier including PTAs, MCOs, etc, and do not include itinerary information or analytics. The suite of O&D reports exclude PTAs, MCOs, etc and show itinerary data by marketing carrier code, and city pair. Fare benchmarking data is also included in the enhanced report.

Q: What can I use this O&D report for?
A: The format of the O&D reports allows you to measure your sales in a similar manner as your carrier partners. By focusing on marketing carriers by city pairs, you will have access to timely data to help you manage and maximize your contracts with carriers.

Q: How will the reports be delivered?
A: Reports will be delivered in Microsoft® Excel® format, electronically via ARC’s secure e-mail server, provided file size permits.

Q: Is the data in these O&D reports from ARC participating carriers only?
A: No, marketing carriers may not necessarily be in the ARC system as a participating carrier. Whichever carrier is identified in the itinerary with a corresponding flight number is the marketing carrier recognized in the O&D suite of reports.

Q: Does a home office location (HOL) report contain information for all of its branches as well?
A: Yes. When an HOL orders a report it will always contain information for the ACNs associated with it. A branch cannot order any of the four reports; only the HOL or independent agency can do so.

Q: Is the data in the reports pulled from ARC COMPASS® based on date of issue, date of travel, or settled date?
A: The data contained in the reports is based on data processed by ARC during the stated time period of the report. The reports will be based on the ARC processing PED calendar.

Q: What is benchmarking data?
A: Benchmarking data in the O&D report compares your agency’s average fare for a city pair and class of service to all other sales reported to ARC for that same period where the city pair and class of service match.

Q: How much do the reports cost?
A: Costs vary based on whether you purchase a one-time report, a quarterly subscription, or a monthly subscription. Contact an ARC representative for the breakdown of the cost of the different reports.

Q: What are the payment options?
A: ARC can directly draft your bank account for the cost of the report(s), or we can accept a credit card (American Express, MasterCard, and VISA). Detailed payment options are available from an ARC representative.

Q: How and when will I receive the report(s)?
A: All reports will be sent via secure email, in Excel format. Report delivery depends on whether you order a subscription by month or quarter, or if you order a one-time report.

Q: Who can purchase these reports?
A: Only the owner or officer of record (verified by ARC’s files) has permission to sign the order form and purchase these reports. The ODSS suite of reports can be ordered by Home and Independent agents and CTDs only. The report data will include data for all subordinate offices (i.e. branches, STPs) if the requestor is a home office.

Q: Whom do I contact to obtain more information about these reports?
A: A user guide is sent to all customers upon receipt of an order. Please consult the User Guide for questions regarding the Report(s). If you are unable to resolve your question in the User Guide, please contact an ARC representative for assistance.

Q: Can I purchase a report containing historical data?
A: A one-time report for the Basic, Focused, and Enhanced versions only are available with historical data. All monthly and quarterly subscriptions will contain data from the date of the signed contract going forward.
