ARC RELEASES NOVEMBER OPERATING RESULTS

Arlington, VA,December 9, 2004 - Total sales and transactions processed by ARC in the four weeks of November 2004 revealed a continuation of the now familiar trend.  Travel agent and Corporate Travel Department transactions were up slightly from a year ago while total sales (dollar volume) were down just 1% compared to November 2003.  Domestic fares lagged the preceding year by 5% while international fares exceeded 2003 by the same percentage.

Electronic ticketing, as a percentage of overall transactions processed by ARC on behalf of more than 23,000 accredited travel agency and CTD locations, reached 87.36% in November.  Average weekly sales per location and average transactions per location grew by 10 and 12% respectively compared to the same month in 2003.  This comparatively strong growth is reflective not only of lower fares that spur increasing transactions but also a gradual decline in travel agent retail locations and the more rapid decline in STP ticket delivery locations.  STP locations are unmanned ticket printer locations rendered obsolete by e-ticketing through retail locations.  Despite declining numbers of individual travel agent locations, a 7% year-to-date growth in total sales over 2003 reveals a strong overall contribution by the travel agent and CTD distribution system to the recovering industry.
