ARC'S OCTOBER OPERATING RESULTS SHOW IMPROVING SALES

Arlington, VA, November 11, 2004 - Average weekly sales in October were 9% higher than in September of this year with a corresponding 5% improvement shown in average weekly transactions. Both total sales and total fares compared favorably with the same month a year before after lagging behind 2003 in a year over year comparison in September. The average weekly sales per agency location bounded upward by 10% since September, reaffirming the robust agency sales volume when compared to the preceding year. To date, average weekly sales per agency location in 2004 is 20% higher than the same ten months in 2003.

E-ticketing transactions represented 86.6% of all transactions processed by ARC.
