ARC SETTLES THREE PERCENT MORE SALES IN OCTOBER
October Marks New Per-Location Sales High
Arlington, VA, November 13, 2003
-
ARC settled three percent more total sales in October 2003 than in the same month last year.
The increase follows three months in which sales were even or grew by one percent compared to the same period
last year and is the first year-over-year increase of more than one percent since November 2002.
"This growth in ARC-processed sales, which builds on the stability of recent months, is an encouraging sign as we move into the close of the year and look
forward to 2004," said ARC President and Chief Executive Officer, David R. B. Collins, CTC.
ARC-accredited entities set a new high in October for average weekly sales per location. The $49,092 per-location average marks an increase of 19 percent over the same month
last year and nearly four percent over the previous high set in June 2003.
"By reaching a new high in average weekly sales per location, ARC-accredited entities continue to demonstrate the valuable role they play in travel distribution," said David R. B. Collins, CTC, ARC president and chief executive officer.
International air fares settled by ARC in October increased for the first time this year over 2002.
The two-percent increase compliments five months of four- and five-percent increases in domestic fares and contributes to the fourth
consecutive month of increases in total fares settled by ARC compared to the same period last year.
Note: ARC has restated some items included on operational statistics for July, August and September 2003. The changes reflect a lower number of agent reports than originally stated and, as a result, higher average weekly sales per
location and higher documents per report. Archived copies available on ARC's
Web site (http://www.arccorp.com/news/news_sales_doc_stats.html) have been changed to
reflect the correct numbers.
ARC's current and archived monthly statistics are available at http://www.arccorp.com/news/news_sales_doc_stats.html.
