ARC ENHANCES IAR E-TICKET VOIDING
Connection to Carrier Databases Will Minimize Debit Memos
Arlington, VA, July 10, 2003 -
ARC has enhanced the void functionality for electronic tickets (e-tickets) by linking
its Interactive Agent Reporting (IAR) database with carriers' electronic ticket databases.
The real-time communications connection provided by ARC will enable the synchronization of
the IAR and carrier e-ticket databases and decrease the number of unreported sale debit memos
issued to travel agents by carriers for electronic tickets not being properly voided.
With this enhancement, when a travel professional voids an e-ticket directly in IAR,
ARC will send a real-time message to the ticketing carrier's e-ticket database requesting
permission to void the e-ticket. The carrier will then send an automated response indicating
whether or not the transaction can be voided. ARC has partnered with a leading technology provider,
Worldspan, to make this functionality available to all ARC participants.
"ARC is in a unique position to provide both travel agents and carriers with access to
timely and accurate transaction data to the ultimate benefit of the traveler," said David Collins,
CTC, ARC president and chief executive officer. "We are pleased to work with Worldspan as part of
our continuing effort to improve the services we provide to all of our stakeholders.
This improvement to IAR will save money and time for travel agents and airlines alike."
"Our partnership with ARC to develop and implement this new electronic ticket void functionality
strengthens Worldspan's position as a leading technology facilitator for the travel industry,
supporting airlines and travel agencies with current, accurate and reliable information,"
commented Sue Powers, chief information officer and senior vice president - Worldwide Product
Solutions for Worldspan.
