ARC RELEASES MAY OPERATING STATISTICS
    Weekly Sales Per Location at New High

Arlington, VA, June 12, 2003 ARC today released its May 2003 operating statistics, which indicate a new record high weekly sales average per agency location, as well as a leveling off of the ongoing drop in sales and fares seen during the height of conflict in Iraq.

"Last month, total sales and total fares were down by 7 percent and 8 percent, respectively, compared to the same period last year.  This is the first month since February in which we have seen single-digit declines in total fares and sales compared to the previous year," said David Collins, ARC President & Chief Executive Officer.  "The negative impact of the war in Iraq that was evident in March and April statistics has subsided."

Continued Collins, "Also in May, we saw a new high for average weekly sales by ARC-accredited agencies, an encouraging indication of health in the travel agency distribution system.  I am pleased that ARC was able to facilitate these transactions, and I look forward to further recovery of the industry in the months to come."

The ARC Fraud Prevention Activity Report for May indicates a month free of crimes committed against travel agents or travel agencies, as reported by ARC.  E-ticketing remains strong, representing 81.12 percent of total transactions processed by ARC last month.
