ARC RELEASES MARCH
OPERATING STATISTICS
Arlington, VA, April 17, 2003
- A sharp drop in international fares reflected in ARC's operating
statistics for the month of March 2003 serves to further illustrate
the significant impact of the conflict in Iraq as well as operational
changes involving travel to the far east. International fares in
March were 28 percent below the same month a year ago while total
sales were down 14 percent month over month and 9 percent year to
date.
Average sales by agency remained positive compared to a year ago
but this too is falling off as overall ticketing volumes continue
to drop.
ARC's Fraud Prevention activity report indicates that March 2003
was incident free. This means that there were no recorded incidents
of burglaries, robberies, or thefts involving travel agents.
The volume of e-ticket transactions rose again reaching an average
weekly percentage of 80.4 percent compared to 80.1 percent of total
ticketing volume in February 2003.
Archived copies of ARC's monthly statistics can be found on ARC's
Web site at http://www.arccorp.com/news/news_sales_doc_stats.html.
