Corporate Travel Managers Launch New CTD Association at Carlsbad Conference

Arlington, VA - November 13, 2008 - The eighth annual CTD Conference was held last week at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, CA. With more than fifty corporate travel managers in attendance, the conference presented expert speakers and panels, along with a host of industry exhibitors taking part in a featured Technology Pavilion. Facilitated by ARC, the accrediting entity for Corporate Travel Departments (CTDs), the 3-day event began on November 5, 2008.

Speakers and panelists were drawn from the industry's top echelons and included Frank Morogiello, V. P, Global Sales, American Airlines; Kelly Hart, Managing Director, Global Accounts, Continental Airlines; C. Stewart Verdery, Jr., Partner & Founder, Monument Policy Group; Economist Christopher Thornberg, Beacon Economics; Candice Snook, Manager, Performance Strategy & Planning, IHG; and Kevin Coffey, President & Founder, Corporate Travel Safety.

Anchoring the agenda was the inaugural meeting of the newly formed Corporate Travel Department Association (CTDA). CTDA is a not-for-profit trade association for ARC-approved CTDs with a mission to network, improve 'best practices' in both service and cost-savings programs within their member companies, and develop a collaborative preferred supplier base on behalf of the group. It is also the intent of CTDA to promote the further growth of the number of approved CTD locations from its current number of 129 locations through mentoring and marketing efforts to other corporations. Annual airline sales from CTD operations currently total over $1.1 billion.

A conference highlight was the recognition of CTD of the Year. This year's award honored Kathy Hall-Zientek, Manager, Travel Services, Moog Inc., in recognition of her contributions to the CTD community and her leadership in the formation of CTDA.
