ARC Carrier Participation Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Who can apply to become an ARC participating carrier?
Any airline, railroad, or other carrier of passenger services may apply.
- Do I need to provide service to the United States to become an ARC participating carrier?
No, any carrier offering passenger service anywhere in the world, can apply to become an ARC participating carrier.
- Is my carrier required to have a U.S. representative?
Yes, the representative can be an employee from a U.S. office location, or a designated third party such as a GSA or an industry consultant. In addition, ARC offers a Registered Agent option to meet the U.S. representative requirement.
- Does ARC operate in a similar manner to the BSPs found in other countries?
ARC is very similar to the BSP environment. IATA oversees BSP systems around the world EXCEPT for the United States, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin islands, and the American Samoa, where travel agency settlement is handled through ARC.
- Is my carrier required to have a U.S. Bank Account?
No, carriers may designate an international bank to receive the weekly cash disbursement (a minimal fee applies to international wires).
